This is a fun hands on class! We will make exquisite body oils, healing salve, beautiful bath salts, and
comforting foot soaks. You will learn some easy basics that will have you making personalized body care
and very special gifts. This is also a great way to smell a wide variety of essential oils and learn about
some good therapeutic blends. You will go home with samples to enjoy, a host of great ideas, and a lift in

Focusing on the first 4 years of life, we will explore natural approaches to common childhood concerns
and activities, including play, sleep, foods, natural body care, and how to naturally support a child
through common colds and illnesses. This approach focuses on reducing our children’s exposure to
constant low levels of toxins and to support their amazing bodies to build a strong and healthy
foundation. You will leave this class with lots of resources! No medical advise is given.

Edible Gardening in the Desert Southwest (at Scottsdale Community College)

This course is designed to give the student an overview
of principles and practices of organic-oriented herb gardening in our regional Sonoran desert. We
will discuss local seasons, plant selection, planting schedules, planting from seed/propagation,
starter plants, gardening resources, soil preparation, microclimates and sun/shade exposure. We
will also discuss various approaches to home gardening including raised beds, container gardening, in
ground directly and also the square foot gardening approach. This is an indoor classroom gardening
class.

This class does not require a book but I will provide handouts
each class (and some samples).
Herbs are enjoying a renewed interest in our society today. We are finding them popping up
everywhere, even on our grocery store shelves. We will explore a bit of history of herbology,
cover the basics of herbal preparation types, and look at some of the more popular herbs in
depth. Learn about good books to reference and what to look for in a quality herbal preparation.
We will even make an herbal preparation in class so you may experience this ancient art that still
has a very important place in today’s world.

We will look at herbs that considered safe and
health-building for pregnancy and lactation and will also look at herbs to avoid. With so
many choices of herbs at the stores now, this is important information to know. We will learn
more about the effects of herbs which are proven safe for pregnancy and lactation and learn how
they have helped many women have healthy happy pregnancies, and ultimately, babies! Good
research guidance is the foundation of this course. No medical advise is given.
