Potted Herbs and Vinegars with fresh herbs and flowers  (at Andy Food)      top

April 7, Wednesday   10:00 – 1:00   $65

Description: We will make delicious and beautiful vinegars using fresh herbs and edible flowers. You will go home with samples that are great for gifts or for keeping to enjoy yourself at home.
For lunch, Linda will prepare a fresh from-the-garden salad with Caribbean Rubbed Chicken and Dandelion Vinaigrette.
As a special treat, you will leave with a trio of some of Linda’s favorite herbs to grow and use that will do well in pots as well as in the ground.

Fresh Herb Infused Oils and Appetizers  (at Andy Food)      top

Description: We will make herb infused oils and each person will make and take home their own unique blend.
While we are infusing oils, we will graze on some fun and easy herb-enhanced appetizers.
Appetizers will include Goat Cheese with Herbed Oil Drizzle and crusty French Bread, Marinated Olives, Grilled Artichokes with wine and lemon caper aioli, Crudites with Green Goddess Dip, Brie with Lavender Honey and for dessert, Lemon Verbena Pound Cake with Purple Pansy Drizzle

Description: Lots of samples to take home!
Using essential oils, herbs and natural products, we will make body oils, bath salts, foot soaks, a wonderful lip balm and a face toning mist.
A fun, aromatic, hands on class that will leave you inspired and full of great ideas for gifts, showers and parties.

Description: A joint class with Andy.
Andy will be hosting a Mother’s Day Tea menu. In this fun event Linda will provide a demonstration on making herbal sachets and learning the language of herbs and flowers.
You will take home a beautiful sentimental sachet for your Mother (or yourself!) as well as some Wise Woman Tea™.
Andy Broder will teach you to make Fresh Herbed Scones - with complementary Herbed Butters, Dill and Cucumber Sandwiches and Edible Flower Petit Fours.

Herbal Feasting while Making Herbed Vinegars and Herb Infused Olive Oil  (at Southwest Gardener)      top

Description: On the cool patio at Southwest Gardener, we will learn how to make herb infused olive oil and infused vinegars, too. You will have a chance to make one of each to take home as well. Linda will prepare a light lunch using edible flowers and herbs in a fabulous salad served with some Crusty French Bread. Of course, fresh herbal teas will also be served. Oh, and dessert? Come and find out.

Edible Gardening in the Desert Southwest  (at Scottsdale Community College)      top
Schedule

4 weeks of 3 hour classes
February 4 – February 25, 2004
    4 Wednesdays    9:30 am – 12:30 pm

Description: This course is designed to give the student an overview of principles and practices of organic-oriented herb gardening in our regional Sonoran desert. We will discuss local seasons, plant selection, planting schedules, planting from seed/propagation, starter plants, gardening resources, soil preparation, microclimates and sun/shade exposure. We will also discuss various approaches to home gardening including raised beds, container gardening, in ground directly and also the square foot gardening approach. This is an indoor classroom gardening class.
