Sonoran Citrus Hand & Body Soap and
Sonoran Citrus Room Mist

As seen on the Sonoran Living program.

A refreshing aromatherapy blend that will keep the memory of fresh Valley citrus in your home all year long. It is light and clear, not overpowering in the least bit. In fact, a larger than normal amount of essential oils are used because the scents are all so light. The good news is that all the oils called for are on the lower scale of expense for essential oils. Whew!

I make a base blend of the essential oils and then add the base blend to my liquid soap or room mist liquid. This recipe will make enough to make 10-12 oz of liquid soap and 2-3 oz of room mist spray. The recipe for the essential oil base is written with parts noted so you can make a little bit or a lot by just changing your “part” measurement . For instance, if you wanted more, you might make your “part” ½ tsp instead of ¼ tsp. That would double the amount. Or for making less, an eighth of a tsp may be your “part” or even less would be to measure in drops (like a five drop unit for a “part”).

Ingredients for Essential Oil Base:
To make: 4 teaspoons of essential oil base. (NOTE: 1 part = ¼ tsp)
  Essential oils of:
1 tsp (4 parts) Grapefruit
1 tsp (4 parts) Mandarin Orange
¾ tsp (3 parts) Lemon
½ tsp (2 parts) Lime
¾ tsp (3 parts) Petitgrain

Method for Essential Oil Base:
Measure all the ingredients into a small glass bottle with a tight fitting lid that is easy to pour out of (like an herb tincture bottle). Label. Shake well.

Ingredients for Liquid Soap:
10 oz thick liquid unscented glycerine soap (like that found at Trader Joes)
2 tsp essential oil blend (or a little more if desired)
1 tsp black poppy seeds (optional)

Method for Liquid Soap:
In a large measuring cup, pour in the liquid soap, essential oil blend and poppy seeds. Stir well. Using a funnel, pour into soap dispenser bottle with a pump. Label the bottle.

Ingredients for Room Mist:
1 ½ oz filtered water
½ oz rubbing alcohol
1 ½ tsp essential oil blend (or a little more if desired)
1 fresh orange peel strip (optional)
labels and fine mist spray bottle.

Method for Room Mist:
Measure the water and alcohol into a two oz mist spray bottle. Add the essential oil base blend. Shake well and test. Add more essential oil and/or the orange peel strip if desired. Label the bottle. Shake before using.

Enjoy!
