Chicken Pox Calming and Soothing.
Natural Recipes.
As seen on the Sonoran Living program.

These are great recipes to make when someone you know has the chicken pox. They will help reduce the itch and calm them down a bit. Remember that the severe itching only lasts two, maybe three days, after that, normally everyone feels much better! The spritz recipe uses a little bit of honey. Honey has great healing properties as well as acts as a good emulsifier.

I find that Baking soda is even better in the bath than oatmeal. Also, there isn’t the clean up concern of oatmeal, nor the cost of the colloidal oatmeal that is on the market now. It is really nice with the aromatherapy oils.

Itch Reducing Body Spritz
Ingredients:

1 T. Honey
1 t. Vitamin E Oil
1/2 cup Aloe Vera juice (will be in the drinkable aloe juice selection, not cosmetic area)
50–90 drops Essential Oils (I used 90 drops)
40     Lavender
15     Lemon
15     Bergamot
15     Chamomile
 5     Peppermint
1/2 cup Witch Hazel

Method:

Mix honey, vit E oil, aloe juice and essential oils together well. Use a little hand blender or a small whisk. Then blend in the witch hazel. Mix well. Pour into a small fine mist bottle (old hairspray bottles work well – cleaned out, of course). LABEL! Spray over the effected areas several times throughout the day. Do not spray in the eyes.

By the way, this would also be a good bug bite spray, so hold on to it after everyone is feeling better.

Aromatic Pox Therapy Bath

Ingredients:

1 cup Baking Soda
8–10 drops Essential Oils
5     Lavender
4     Chamomile
3     Tea Tree

Method:

Blend essential oils into the baking soda. Add ˝ - 1 cup of the baking soda to a tepid bath. Soak for 15-20 minutes. Store the aromatic blend in an air tight glass container.
